COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Soldiers who died in service of their country are being honored during a ceremony at a VA hospital in South Carolina.
The public is invited to attend an early observance of Memorial Day scheduled for Friday at the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.
VA spokeswoman Priscilla Creamer (KRAY'-mur) says the ceremony will be held in the main lobby of the medical center's surgical building.
Lt. Col. Larry Murray, commander of the 2nd Battalion 60th Infantry Regiment at Fort Jackson is the keynote speaker.
Murray has served in a number of battalion, brigade and general staff positions with U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
