Berkeley County standoff ends after 32 hours

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A standoff in Berkeley County that had sheriff's deputies staked out in Summerville for 32 hours is over.

Deputies said the man inside was threatening to kill himself and began the stand-off began shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday on 106 Netherfield Drive in the Carriage Lane subdivision.

Police said Friday afternoon they had launched more than a dozen gas canisters into the home to force the man out of his house. The power and water were also turned off in the home.

Deputies said the man had two or three weapons in the house. Neighbors in the house next door were evacuated as a precaution.
