FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) - A 21-gun salute and wreath presentation has been set to mark Memorial Day ceremonies at South Carolina's Fort Jackson in honor of those who've fallen in service to their nation.
Fort Jackson spokesman Patrick Jones says the 171st Infantry Brigade was hosting the event Monday morning at the Army installation outside Columbia.
Members of the Society of Military Widows and the Gold Star Wives were invited to attend, as well as members of the public.
Fort Jackson commander Brig. Gen. Bradley May was to deliver the keynote address.
Fort Jackson is the Army's largest training installation, with more than 50,000 soldiers participating annually in basic and advanced training exercises.
