Stray bullet kills Charleston man inside mobile home

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 39-year-old South Carolina man has died after he was shot inside a mobile home after someone fired a bullet from a nearby car.

Authorities told multiple media outlets that Willard Wells was hit in the chest around 5 p.m. Sunday in the home in Ravenel and died a short time later at the hospital.

Investigators say Harold Browning Jr. fired the fatal shot through an open car window while he held a pistol. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Browning had an attorney.
