Name released of teen who drowns in SC bridge jump

SOCASTEE, S.C. (AP) - Officials have released the name of a teen who drowned after jumping from a bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported that 15-year-old Kevin Samir Duarte of Horry County died after jumping from the swing bridge near Socastee. Duarte was a student at Socastee High School.

Authorities say the teen was swimming with friends Sunday afternoon when he jumped from the bridge and didn't surface.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick says a preliminary autopsy showed that Duarte drowned.
