Irwin leaving St. Joseph's to play for Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A former West Virginia high school basketball standout has transferred to Furman.

Coach Jeff Jackson said Monday that Bryant Irwin is leaving St. Joseph's after two seasons to play for the Paladins.

Irwin averaged more than four points and two rebounds over 61 games. He won the Gatorade State Player of the Year award in his senior year at Bridgeport High School.

The 6-foot-7 Irwin will sit out the 2010-11 season per NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining.
