Tight finish in Charleston County Council races

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Thomas LeGare edged Fran Roberts for the District 8 Republican nomination to the Charleston County Council during Tuesday's primary election.

Legare's 1,364 votes were 19 more than Roberts.

For the Democrats, Anna B. Johnson's 773 votes were the most. She finished ahead of Karen Hollinshead Brown (692), Eric L. Mack (521), Parris Williams (270), Charles Glover (210) and Richmond Truesdale Jr. (172).

In the District 9 Republican primary, Joe Qualey won the race with 2,660 votes compared to 2,284 for his opponent, John B DuBois.
