WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - A Colleton County man turned himself in to authorities Wednesday afternoon after warrants were obtained for his arrest in connection with a shooting in Colleton County.
The Colleton County Sheriff's office responded to a 911 call at 1014 Gadsden Loop late Tuesday night after a woman told the dispatcher she had been shot in the right leg by her boyfriend after an argument.
The victim was transported to the hospital by Colleton County Fire and Rescue.
The boyfriend, identified as Erick Nathanial Washington, turned himself in around 5 p.m. Wednesday. He is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful possession of a handgun.
Washington was convicted of manslaughter in 1997 and cannot possess a handgun by state law.
He is being held at the Colleton County Detention Center.
