CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police arrested a man wanted for armed robbery.
Police charged Nathaniel Nelson, 42, in connection with an armed robbery at 900 King St. on Thursday.
According to the police report, the victim said an unknown black male came up from behind while he was unlocking the front door to his apartment. Nelson held the door open for the victim while he worked to pull his bicycle inside.
Once both men were inside of the apartment, Nelson allegedly placed an unknown object against the victim's back. The victim told police he believed the object to be a screwdriver or a wrench, said the report.
The victim also told police Nelson grabbed his shirt asking for money. Nelson then tore the button off his shirt's left pocket and took a $20 bill before running out the door.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
While officers were in the King Street area, an officer noticed a man matching Nelson's description. Nelson was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
