Mansion sets record sales price for Charleston

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina mansion has sold for $14 million setting the record for residential real estate in Charleston County.

The 9,900-square-foot home on Kiawah Island was sold to a company formed by an owner of food and beverage distributor Reyes Holdings LLC based in Chicago.

A spokesman for Jude Reyes said he would have no comment.

The three-story house sits on 2.3 acres on the resort island south of Charleston and has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a pool, an elevator and a guest cottage. Property taxes were almost $150,000 last year.

County records show former Morgan Stanley executive Paul G. Kimball and his wife, Kathleen Kimball, of Wyoming bought the land in 1992 and built the house 10 years later.
