Upstate officials say woman's death in fire accidental

GREER, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina investigators say a 64-year-old woman killed in a house fire in April died from a heart attack.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger told The Greenville News on Friday that Rebecca Ann Allen also suffered from emphysema. He said her death is not suspicious.

Arson investigators have determined the fire started accidentally.

Spartanburg County sheriff's spokesman Tony Ivey says Allen was a smoker and used an oxygen machine.

At the time of the fire, Greer Fire Chief Chris Harvey said passers-by attempted to get into Allen's duplex but were stopped by an explosion inside.
