MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach is a priority to one company who hopes to redevelop one section of Ocean Boulevard, thanks to the new boardwalk.
Pacific Development, based in Clayton, Missouri, says they are trying to get approval from the city to begin construction on an ocean front Ferris wheel.
The proposed Ferris wheel would have enclosed gondolas equipped with heat and air conditioning, so visitors would be able to get rides overlooking the beach all year round.
Pacific Development hopes to have approval from the city within the next month in hopes of having it set up for the 2011 season.
The proposed site for the attraction is where the Golden Villa Motel is currently located, near Plyler Park. A company representative will be at the Community Appearance Board meeting on Thursday afternoon.
The company says it would be similar to the one they currently own near Niagara Falls in Canada.
