SC man's body pulled from lake

LYMAN, S.C. (AP) - Searchers have found the body of a South Carolina man who drowned after jumping into a Spartanburg County lake to cool off.

Multiple media outlets reported that 27-year-old Carl Wade Mitskoff of Lyman had been fishing with friends on Saturday afternoon when he jumped off a pontoon boat to cool off.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger says Mitskoff's body was found late Monday morning.

Holly Springs Volunteer Fire Department Chief Lee Jeffcoat says 1 of Mitskoff's friends jumped in to help but was unable to get Mitskoff before he went under and didn't resurface.

Jeffcoat says a water rescue team arrived within five minutes but couldn't find the victim. The body was found about 100 yards from where he went under the surface.
