HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Police in Horry County have arrested two people on drug charges after discovering nearly $538,000 worth of marijuana plants growing in Conway and Aynor.
Lt. Jamie DeBari, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, said officers initiated a two-day investigation into illegal marijuana growth on June 9-10, in conjunction with SLED Aviation. Throughout the operation, 168 marijuana plants were seized, totaling $537,600.
Carla Toney Sellers, 59, of Conway, was immediately charged with manufacturing marijuana after the discovery of 139 plants. Leigh Anderson, 45, of Aynor, now faces the same charges after the discovery of 13 plants.
A third location was targeted in the Horry County Police operation; however, an arrest has not been made in the discovery of the additional 16 marijuana plants. The Conway location is currently being investigated by police.
