WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) - Walterboro police Tuesday made two arrests in connection with the operation of a mobile methamphetamine lab after a patrol officer stopped a vehicle whose occupants were involved in a public disturbance.
Clarence Edward Risher, Jr., was charged with attempted manufacturing of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Cayce Elaine Trivett was cited for driving under the influence and driving under suspension. The suspension charge was her second offense.
The arrests were made around 9:30 p.m., after officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. With the help of a canine search team from the Colleton County Sherriff's Office, officers were able to compile enough evidence for an arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed various chemicals, tubing and burners, all commonly used in the production of methamphetamine.
The Drug Enforcement Agency was called in to contain the hazardous materials.
