Stowaway found dead in shipping container identified

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A man who was found dead in a shipping container earlier this month was identified Wednesday.

Raymundo Brea-Santos, 38, of the Dominican Republic was found dead after federal agents say he and two other men illegally boarded the Mediterranean Shipping Company owned vessel "Debra" in the Dominican Republic. They then snuck into a container hoping to survive the four-day trip into Charleston with almost nothing.

Cause of death still unknown as the Charleston County coroner's office awaits on test results.
