MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The newly chosen Democratic and Republican nominees running for South Carolina education superintendent are getting an early start on their first debate.

Greenville attorney Frank Holleman and retiring Newberry College president Mick Zais will meet Thursday at a candidate's forum in Myrtle Beach during a meeting of the state Association of School Administrators.

Holleman won the Democratic primary June 8 with 56% of the vote.

Zais won the Republican primary runoff on Tuesday with 54% of the vote.

The general election will be held in November.
