GASTON COUNTY, NC (WIS) - A South Carolina man is in custody in North Carolina awaiting extradition to face sex crime charges.
On June 23, Detectives with the Gaston County Police Department assisted investigators from the Orangeburg (SC) Police Department, Charleston (SC) Police Department, South Carolina Attorney General's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in the arrest of James William Shaw, Jr.
Shaw was living in Mount Holly, NC and was arrested without incident. Shaw is wanted in South Carolina on charges of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor and Attempting to Disseminate Obscene Material to a Person Under 18 Years of Age.
Shaw is currently in the Gaston County Jail awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
All of the listed agencies involved in this arrest are members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The ICAC task force program helps local and State law enforcement agencies enhance their investigative response to offenders who use the internet, online communication, or other computer technology to sexually exploit children.
