Police respond to James Island bank robbery

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Law enforcement officials from Charleston City and Charleston County responded to a bank robbery on Folly Road Friday evening.

According to police, a light-skinned man between 5'7" and 5'10" wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, boots and a dark bandana around his face jumped over the counter at the bank of America on 540 Folly Rd.

Police say he grabbed money from the cash drawers before fleeing the scene. Only bank employees were in the building at the time of the robbery. The employees indicated to police the suspect did not show a weapon or imply that he had one.

None of the employees were injured.

Police have not said Friday's robbery is connected to any of the other robberies of recent weeks.
