Missing Berkeley County tracking dog found

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) — A lost tracking dog was found over the weekend.

The missing 3-year-old bloodhound named Red belongs to the Berkeley County sheriff's office. The dog went missing after he dug his way out of a kennel in the Fairlawn Barony subdivision in Moncks Corner last Tuesday morning.

After seeing a news report about the missing dog, a woman called the sheriff's office Saturday to report that she thought the dog might be at her son's residence in Cross, S.C.

The dog's handler went to the address and found the dog safe and sound. The son said he found the dog last Tuesday, the same day he went missing, near Rembert C. Dennis Boulevard in Moncks Corner, less than ¼ mile from where he escaped from his kennel.

The man said the dog had no collar on when he saw him in the parking lot of a hardware store.

No charges will be filed against anyone in connection with the dog's disappearance.
