SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have completed their investigation into two Summerville police officers who shot and killed an armed suspect in May.
The first circuit solicitor's office found no criminal wrongdoing in the officers' actions.
Police say that on May 17, Garrick Heckstall robbed a convenience store, kidnapped a vendor and tried to sexually assault her. He then pointed a revolver at two police officers.
Both officers fired back, hitting and killing Heckstall.
The solicitor's office said the officers acted correctly, saying that the suspect posed an immediate and deadly threat to the officers as well as others in the area.
