WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The man accused of robbing a West Ashley bank Tuesday was captured by Charleston County deputies moments after the incident. The suspect was found and arrested on Savannah Highway in Ravenel.
Charleston County deputies identified the suspect as 39-year-old Sean Saxby of Walterboro.
Saxby will be charged with two counts of armed robbery by Charleston County for the Wachovia bank robbery June 26 and Tuesday's Carolina First robbery. Charleston City Police have charged Saxby with the June 26 attempted robbery of the Bank of America branch on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.
St. George Police are charging Saxby with the June 25 robbery of a First Citizen's branch.
Charleston City police and Charleston County deputies Tuesday responded to another bank robbery. The robbery happened just before noon Tuesday at the Carolina First on Orleans Road.
The bank is located across the street from Citadel Mall.
Moments after the robbery, WCSC reporter Harve Jacobs and photographer Matt Gladwell found a bag full of money in a nearby parking lot. The bag and money were covered in dye from an exploded dye pack.
According to scanner traffic, the suspect is a black male about 5'7" tall wearing a black-and-white striped shirt. That same scanner traffic suggests the suspect may be covered in dye. He was last seen running behind Ross, a discount clothier.
Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said the investigation would be handled by Charleston County.
The robbery is the 13th since June 7.
