CROSS, SC (WCSC) - Search crews recovered the body of a missing boater who drowned in Lake Moultrie on Tuesday.
Police said that around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, eight people were on a pontoon boat in Lake Moultrie on an outing at the S&S Campground in Cross, S.C. While on the boat, Petric Wright, 23, jumped into the water and swam to a float near the boat. When he reached the float, he went under the water.
Units from the Berkeley County rescue squad, Berkeley County sheriff office, the Department of Natural Resources and the Cross Fire Department had been searching for Wright since Tuesday.
His death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
