COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's national championship baseball team has another celebration to attend.
The Gamecocks have had a nearly nonstop party since returning from Omaha, Neb., with the College World Series title. The latest event is a parade through the heart of South Carolina's capital city.
Officials in Columbia say the parade will travel along Main Street, starting at Laurel and finishing in front of the Statehouse at Gervais Street. South Carolina baseball coach Ray Tanner will lead the parade as grand marshal.
Mayor Steve Benjamin will give Tanner and the players a key to the city. The mayor will also proclaim it Coach Ray Tanner and Gamecock Baseball Day.
