Firefighter released from burn unit after North Charleston fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A firefighter who was injured while battling a fire on Purity Drive in North Charleston was released Wednesday from the Augusta Burn Unit.

Three firefighters were injured Monday afternoon while fighting a house fire Monday afternoon.

According to officials, Capt. William Odum and firefighter Antwon Green were injured and taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment. Both firefighters were treated and released.

Firefighter John Bolton was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center. Officials said Wednesday that he was released and is at home with his family.

Fire officials said the firefighters were able to escape the home shortly before the roof collapsed. EMS personnel have confirmed that they responded to the scene to treat the injured firefighters. None of the firefighters have been identified.

One person was at home at the time of the fire, but they were able to leave the house safely.

The house fire is in the Baker Plantation community.
