GREER, S.C. (AP) - Varmints have made off with more than 60 pounds of vegetables grown by a South Carolina woman - but it wasn't squirrels or deer.
Instead, WYFF-TV reports a thief made off with 40 pounds of ripe tomatoes, 20 pounds of lima and butter beans and a lot of cucumbers and squash from a home near Greer in Spartanburg County.
The homeowner says she has sold produce in front of her home for 16 years and never seen anyone take this much from her.
She says she figures hard times have left people with no choice but to steal vegetables.
