Teacher found not guilty of molesting student

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Former South Carolina Teacher of the Year Charles Long Jr. was found not guilty of molesting a former student in the 1980's by a Charleston County jury Wednesday.

Long was accused of engaging in masturbation sessions and other deviant acts with a student between the ages of 11 and 14. He was charged with committing a lewd act on a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Long is a 59-year-old former Charleston County teacher. He was named the state's top teacher in 1986.
