Test driving Corvette turns deadly for West Ashley wreck victim

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A 33-year-old was killed Friday after the Corvette he was test driving was hit by another car immediately after the victim pulled out of the dealership parking lot.

The Charleston County coroner said that Johnathan Capps, the driver of a Corvette, died from blunt trauma to the head at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Capps was leaving Azalea Motors to take the Corvette out for a test drive when the accident occured. The Charleston County Sheriff's office said that the accident occurred around 2 p.m. and involved the Chevy Corvette and a Green Ford Crown Victoria.

Brandon D. Ancrum, 20, from Hollywood has been charged with reckless homicide. He was driving the Ford which overturned, while the Corvette was shredded down the side.

The accident occurred on Savannah Highway near the intersection with Savage Road. It slowed down traffic on US 17 in West Ashley on Friday afternoon.
