Police investigating shooting death of SC teen

LONGS, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina police say a teenager and his 12-year-old brother were handling a shotgun when the older boy was shot and killed.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that Caleb Moore died Saturday morning at Loris Community Hospital.

Horry County Police Lt. Raul Denis said investigators are trying to determine whether the shooting was an accident. Moore's 12-year-old brother was present when Moore was shot at a home in Longs. The younger boy's name was not released.

Loris High School principal Dick Gurley said Moore would have been a junior at the school in the fall and was a well-liked student.
