JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - James Island residents can get to know the candidates running for mayor during a debate Tuesday night at 7.
The debate is being held at the Department of Natural Resources auditorium, which is located at the Fort Johnson Maritime Center.
Incumbent Mayor Mary Clark says she won't be there and that a debate isn't necessary. The other four candidates will be present.
Those candidates are Jonathan Brown, vide president of ICF International, Brett "skibo" Johnson, owner of Skibo's Neighborhood Grill, Warren Sloane, a realtor with Sloane Reality and Property Management, and Bill Woolsey, an Economics professor at The Citadel.
The 10 candidates for town council will be on hand to meet and greet voters in the auditorium's lobby from 6 to 7 p.m. before the debate begins.
This will be the only mayoral debate before the election on August 3rd.
Clark has been mayor for more than a decade.
