REEVESVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Authorities used a controlled delivery procedure to arrest a man on charges of manufacturing marijuana Tuesday.
The Metro Narcotics Unit of the Dorchester County sheriff's office intercepted a package containing more than 15 pounds of marijuana, sent it to its destination and later found marijuana growing on the property.
The sheriff's office and Summerville police said they arrested 55-year-old Sammie Willis Jr. on Tuesday night in his home at 4931 Wire Road.
Narcotics agents were notified early in the day that a parcel was intercepted that contained marijuana. The package was successfully delivered to Willis' home and a search warrant was executed after the he accepted the package.
Agents also recovered and seized 39 marijuana plants from the residence. The plants were found growing in the back yard. Willis denied knowing what was in the package and it was still unopened when the search warrant was executed.
Willis was the primary resident and was charged with manufacturing marijuana.
The case is still under investigation and other charges may be filed.
