One person killed after overturned car lands in pond

North Charleston, SC (WCSC) – An overturned vehicle left one person dead and another in the hospital Friday night.

The accident occurred on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Officers responded to a vehicle that was submerged in the water at Eagle Landing Boulevard.

According to police, three officers dove into the water to retrieve both people out of the car.

Witnesses told police they saw a vehicle hit the curb and flip into the pond.

Police said one of the victims was transported to Roper Northwoods Hospital where he died. The second victim was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
