MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Three people are in Grand Strand area hospitals after officials say they were struck by lightning during a Wednesday evening storm.
Horry County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Leslie Yancey said the unrelated incidents occurred around 6:30 p.m.
Yancey said a female is believed to have been struck in the Lakewood area; she has been transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Joan Carroza with the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center confirmed one person is being treated and evaluated for a possible lightning strike.
Yancey said a male who was injured at Ocean Lakes Campground was also transported to GSRMC.
However, Carroza cannot confirm if they are treating a second victim at this time.
A second man was struck near Southbridge in Socastee. He was taken to Waccamaw Regional Medical Center.
No other information is available at this time.
