North Charleston police seize drugs, make arrest

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston police arrested a woman for having approximately 3/4 of a pound of marijuana, and have charged her with possession with intent to distribute within half a mile of a school.

Police were called to an address on Blue House Road at about 3:20 Thursday morning in reference to someone being dragged from a vehicle.  Officers didn't find anything and left, but returned after receiving another call about the incident.  The anonymous caller said a Dodge Durango was parked there with drugs on the seat.

When officers returned, they found a garbage bag torn open with what appeared to be marijuana in it.  Police seized the bag and continued a search for anyone that may have been dragged from the scene.

Police went to the address the Durango was registered to and found Traylece Bennett, who said the substance in the white bag in the car was hers, along with $1,880 in cash found under a mattress in the apartment she was located in.

Police arrested Bennett and charged her with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within a half mile of a school.

Charleston Southern University is the school close to the address where the incident took place.
