Florida man stopped in SC accused of stabbing parents

MANNING, SC (AP) - A Florida man has been arrested in South Carolina and accused of stabbing and critically injuring his parents.

Multiple media outlets reported 20-year-old Charles Cash Clifton of Cocoa, Fla., was stopped Thursday morning on Interstate 95 near Summerton.

The Brevard County, Fla., Sheriff's Office says Clifton is accused of stabbing his parents during an argument at their home in Cocoa early Thursday morning. He is awaiting extradition on charges of attempted murder.

Fifty-seven-year-old Ezekiel Clifton and his wife, 53-year-old Sheree Clifton, were flown to a hospital in Melbourne, Fla. Sheriff's Lt. Tod Goodyear says the couple was in critical condition but was expected to survive.

Summerton Police Chief Ray Perdue says an officer spotted Clifton in a pickup truck parked on I-95 with blood on his shirt.
