Family of five homeless after morning fire

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The American Red Cross responded to an early morning house fire that has left a family of five including two children without a home.

The fire occurred on St. John's Church Road in the Cainhoy/Wando area of Mt. Pleasant.

Red Cross volunteers are providing the family of five with temporary shelter, financial assistance as well as food and clothing that was lost in the fire.

Since the beginning of this year, the American Red Cross has assisted 646 home fire victims throughout the region which includes; Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
