CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Four accidents involving 11 vehicles slowed traffic on Interstate 26 Wednesday morning.
According to Charleston police, three of the accidents involved motorists following too closely and the fourth accident was caused by rubber necking.
The accidents occurred on I-26 around 8 a.m. between the Spruill Avenue Exit and the Rutledge Avenue exit.
Five people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Several traffic citations issued. The South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted Charleston Police with the accidents.
Officers cleared the scene at about 9:30 a.m.
