JACKSONVILLE, NC (WECT) - Authorities in Onslow County, NC, have tracked down several people they believe are responsible for what they're calling a major crime ring of vehicle larcenies and burglaries and home burglaries.

Three Marines have been arrested.  A K-9 officer and his handler tracked two of the suspects for two miles Thursday following a tip that people were breaking into cars in the Hunters Creek area.

Seven stolen vehicles have been recovered.  Two of the vehicles, a 1968 Camaro and a rollback car carrier stolen from the city of Jacksonville, were found in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Three other vehicles were stolen from Camp Lejeune, one from Pitt County, and two from Onslow County.

Authorities say the men also stole guns and computers from homes and cars in Jacksonville and Onslow County.

Investigators have recovered about $175,000 worth of stolen property so far.

The following men are under arrest:

  • Aaron Lee, 19, of Camp Lejeune
  • Joshua Mathis, 21, of Camp Lejeune
  • Deangelo Gearing, 20, of Camp Lejeune

Authorities say 45 warrants have been served, with more to follow.  They also expect to make more arrests.
