Dorchester deputies looking for shooting suspects

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A man was shot on Ladson Road in Dorchester County Friday afternoon, authorities say.

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. Witnesses told deputies that three black men were walking along Ladson Road when a van pulled up beside the men.

Words were exchanged, said authorities, and then both parties opened fire on each other. The van sped off toward Dorchester Road.

One of the men walking fell to the ground after being shot twice in the leg. The two men with him fled the scene. The wounded man was transported to the hospital for treatment.

His condition is unknown, said deputies.

K-9 units that responded to the scene were unable to locate the other two suspects. Authorities also have not located the van.

Crime scene investigators recovered multiple shell casings and one semi-automatic pistol.  At least one vehicle passing by during the shooting was struck and the woman driving received minor injuries from flying glass.

The investigation is ongoing.

Any person who was on Ladson Road at the time of the shooting and may have information is asked to call the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office at 873-5111 or Crimestoppers.
