CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Republican Nikki Haley continues to hold a double-digit lead over Democratic State Senator Vincent Sheheen in South Carolina's race for governor according to a recent poll.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone poll of South Carolina voters shows Haley with 49 percent of the vote while Sheheen had 35 percent. Four percent said they would be likely to vote for another candidate and 12 percent are still undecided.
According to the poll, Haley has 82 percent of the GOP vote, while Sheheen earned just 68 percent of Democrats. Voters not affiliated with either party prefer Haley by a 48 percent to 34 percent margin.
The survey of 500 voters was conducted Thursday, July 29 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
