Highway patrol spokesman hit from behind during I-26 crash

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol's spokesman's car was hit during a crash on Interstate 26 Tuesday night.

Lance Corporal Bob Beres was struck from behind near mile marker 212, close to Aviation Avenue. He is expected to be ok.

Beres' vehicle was stopped on the roadway, as were the two cars in front of him.  The driver who struck Beres was traveling fast enough to push Beres into the car in front of him, causing that car to strike the vehicle directly in front of it.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Beres has been ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

There is no word on other injuries. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
