GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The combination of high tides, a new moon and residual swell from Tropical Storm Colin has prompted a coastal flood advisory for Georgetown County.
The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, will remain in effect from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday.
Forecasters with the NWS said tide levels between 6' and 7' typically produce minor salt water flooding in low-lying areas. Areas prone to the minor salt water flooding include Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet and Georgetown.
A coastal flood advisory is issued when onshore winds and tides combine to generate flooding along low areas near the shoreline.
