Additional meetings scheduled for Mark Clark extension project

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Additional meetings to gather public comments on the plan to extend the Mark Clark Expressway through West Ashley and across James and Johns Islands have been scheduled.

Concern was expressed at the first meeting that having only two meetings at a central location would prevent some people from attending and giving their thoughts.

Each public hearing will follow the same format with an open-house question and answer opportunity starting at 5 p.m., and a formal presentation with comment period starting at 6 p.m. Meetings will be held:

Comments on the project can be also be made by clicking "Contact Us"  on the project website (, on the project hotline 1-888-MCE-I526, or by mail to SCDOT at PO Box 191, Columbia, SC 29202-0191.  The two-month public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Recommended Preferred Alternative ends on September 30, 2010.
