FLORENCE, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Corrections is searching for a minimum security inmate who walked away from a jobsite Friday morning.
Corrections officials say Derrick Gamble, left his job at the Vocational Rehabilitation office in Florence around 9 a.m. Gamble was being held at the Palmer Pre-release Center. After leaving the office, Gamble was seen getting into a 1999 green Ford Expedition.
Gamble is serving a two year sentence for habitual traffic offenses that occurred in Sumter County. He now faces a felony escape charge which can carry up to an additional fifteen year sentence.
Gamble, 29, is black, has brown eyes, black hair, stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, and weighs about 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans.
