8-year-old girl struck in West Ashley hit-and-run

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County Sheriff's deputies are looking for the driver of a pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run accident in West Ashley Friday afternoon.

Three people were trying to cross Ashley River Road near Glendale Drive around 4:20 p.m. when a dark blue pickup traveling south on Highway 61 from Bees Ferry Road struck an 8-year-old girl. According to the police report, the driver stopped, got out of the truck, then got back in and drove off.

According to the mother of the child, the driver of the truck is a white male in his mid 30's, and had a scruffy face. She also said the truck had ladder racks and white signage.

There is no word yet on injuries to the girl.
