Red Cross assists four families after fires in Hanahan, Ladson

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Lowcountry chapter of the American Red Cross assisted three families after an apartment fire late Friday night in Hanahan.

One family had five people, including two adults and three children and they were given temporary lodging and funds to replace clothing and food lost in the fire. They received comfort kits containing personal emergency supplies. The three children each received a stuffed animal.

The second unit was home to five adults and they received temporary lodging. The third unit was home to two adults and they also received temporary lodging.

The American Red Cross also assistance a family of three, including two adults and one child, whose mobile home was destroyed by a fire Friday night in Ladson.

Volunteers gave comfort kits that include personal items as well as arranged temporary lodging for the displaced family. Funds to replace food and clothing were also provided to the victims.

The Red Cross has now assisted 726 individuals needing aid due to home fires since January 1.
