CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Teachers have been delayed getting into their new classrooms at a temporary joint campus, but Charelston County School District officials are confident everything will be in place for the start of school Wednesday.
Teachers and staff at the temporary facility that will house Memminger and James Simmons elementary schools are coming down to the wire. Teachers from both schools were preparing classrooms and getting supplies ready at the old Brentwood Middle School campus Monday.
The school district says there was a problem with the flooring that delayed teacher preparations by a day, but it did not create any major issues.
Construction crews were also on-site at the Brentwood campus Monday doing last minute air conditioning work.
Both Memminger and James Simmons were deemed seismically unsafe and the students were transferred to a temporary facility while remodeling can take place at the two schools.
