NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A suspicious package that shut down the Target shopping center on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston for more than three hours Monday was not an explosive.
According to North Charleston police officials, an employee found a box in the store with wires inside. Not knowing what it was, police were called in to investigate.
Members of the Charleston County bomb squad said the device they found was made to look like an improvised explosive device, or IED. The bomb squad supervisor said the device was not an explosive, but it was made to look like one.
