Trailer, lumber stolen from Habitat for Humanity work site

JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Deputies are looking for the person that stole equipment from a Habitat for Humanity work site on Johns Island Saturday.

According to Habitat officials, a flatbed trailer and $600 of lumber was stolen from a building site on Genesis Road on Johns Island.

One of the Habitat builders said he left the $2,000 trailer at the work site Friday night and, by Sunday, it had disappeared.

This marks the second time this year someone has stolen materials from a Habitat work site.

Late last month, someone broke into a Habitat for Humanity home in Summerville and stole $700 in tools and electrical supplies. Volunteers had to borrow tools from nearby residents and businesses to finish their work.

If you have any information on the stolen tools or the stolen trailer, call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
