HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WCSC) – After several hours of negotiations, a man barricaded in his Hilton Head Plantation home was successfully taken into custody by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.
Kenneth Eldimor Allison, 54, was arrested just before midnight Wednesday following nearly four hours of attempted negotiations.
Allison called 911 Wednesday afternoon demanding that the sheriff's office respond to recover a boat, which he claimed had been "stolen" by his bank for payment issues. Deputies responded and determined that the issue was not a criminal matter, but instead a civil repossession matter. Allison was advised of such, however, he continued to make repeated 911 calls throughout the afternoon, becoming increasingly agitated and harassing dispatchers.
Around 7:20 p.m., Allison again called 911 and deputies were dispatched to his home at 61 High Bluff Road. Upon arrival, Allison met deputies armed with a long gun. A perimeter was established, at which time Allison retreated into his home and refused to come out.
During attempts to communicate with him, he was seen with several different weapons, including a long gun, a handgun and a bow and arrow.
Members of the Sheriff's Office Negotiations Team and SWAT Team responded and spent the next several hours trying to persuade Allison to communicate and/or surrender, however, all attempts failed.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., SWAT members made entry to the home and were able to subdue Allison and take him into custody.
Allison was transported to Hilton Head Medical Center for evaluation and was later released for incarceration at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
A search warrant executed at the home following the standoff yielded numerous weapons and a quantity of marijuana. Allison has been charged with unlawful use of 911 and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He currently remains in the detention center awaiting bond hearings.
